Meet Davis the Orchestra Mascot! Davis is an 8 year old Weimaraner who is a retired registered therapy dog through Pet Partners of America and Pet Partners of Johnson County. Although he is slowing down a bit, he still makes visits to the orchestra office and has been keeping students happy since 2017!
Megan Stucky-Swanson is the Director of Orchestras for the Iowa City Community School District at City High School. Mrs. Stucky-Swanson is currently in her 21st year of public school education where her high school program consists of three orchestras with 130 string players in grades 9-12. Her top orchestras have performed in Austria, Czech Republic, Ireland, Italy and Great Britain. Mrs. Stucky-Swanson has also conducted numerous musicals including Oliver, Mary Poppins, Grease, Guys and Dolls, Little Shop of Horrors and Les Miserables consistently earning state awards for best pit orchestra. Mrs. Stucky-Swanson graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BME in 2003. Over the course of 20 years, Mrs. Stucky-Swanson has maintained an active schedule as a violinist and guest clinician performing regularly with the Waterloo Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Nolte and various local groups. She is a member of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) and Iowa String Teachers Association (ISTA).
